How my journey began
I was so disconnected from myself and had no clue who I was.
Pointing my finger at everything and everyone around me, I felt distant from those I loved, angry, yelling at my children for no good reason, dreading holidays, burnt out at work to the point of quitting my job, longing for peace that constantly eluded me…
Then, as I sat in my room, reading a post by Liz Gilbert expressing her love for her best friend, my whole life flashed before my eyes – and a realization that I no longer wanted to push away…
A roller coaster of emotions rushed through me. I was both exhilarated and terrified at the same time – like a huge flood gate opened. All the suppression. All the silence. Everything I had been trying to hold down bubbled to the surface and burst into my awareness.
In that moment part of me wanted to push it back down, but I knew I no longer could. I finally knew the truth of who I was and for the first time in years, decades, I could feel the ground beneath me, the air in my lungs, my heart beating in my chest – I felt so alive.
I wasn’t even sure it was real.
But it was real… a realization that I’m gay. Yet, this didn’t fit into the current picture of my life. I was married, had two beautiful children…I told myself stories about who I needed to be for them, for my family.
How could I abandon who I had been and be out as a gay woman?
It felt like a lot to absorb and digest – and yet now that I knew…the cost to push that back down felt too high.
What next? How do I move forward?
I had already been working with best-selling author and master coach, Nancy Levin. Through her coaching I was slowly able to let go of the persona I created to feel safe, loved by others and step into the one where I accept and love myself. It gave me the greatest sense of safety I had ever known!
So much so, I knew I had to give this to others in my shoes and trained to be a life coach.
Reinvention Coaching helped me to return to the essence of who I am – to connect me with me – the REAL me.
For the first time in my life, I felt rooted in a way that allowed me to authentically express all of who I am.
As a result, I now feel closer to my children and family, I love my job, and I’m married to the woman of my dreams.
If my story resonates with you. If you’re feeling stuck and disconnected, I invite you to take the first step and share your truth safely in a confidential discovery call. I can show you what it means to truly live in the essence of who you are – to live REAL – a Rooted, Expressed, and Authentic Life.
